3 Hour Blackwater Tubing Tsitsikamma

Description

Blackwater Tubing on the Storms River is a fun easy and safe adventure activity that allows you to explore exclusive and remote areas of the Tsitsikamma. This fantastic outdoor adventure on specialised one-man inflatable river tubes includes Plaatbos Nature reserve, Goesa Nature reserve and Tsitsikamma National Park.

The trip includes a 20min scenic forest drive from Storms River Village to the drop off and pick up point in the old Storms River Pass. At river’s edge you receive your tube and we take you for a short upstream paddle to a sandy beach where we sling our tubes over our shoulders and walk a further 200m to the next calm pool.

Here we jump onto our stand up paddle boards (SUP) and paddle approximately 800m further to an 8m optional cliff jump. Don't worry we'll demonstrate first and if you’re up for it you're welcome to take the leap. Whilst the brave hearts are leaping, those that want to take the day a little easier are kept entertained with activities like SUP handstands, tube balancing and swimming.

A well earned chocolate bar marks the turn around point at the jump site and we paddle back to where our tube were left at river’s edge. From here we now take you on a spectacular round route down stream tubing back to the low water bridge where we started.

This tubing experience includes 1.5 fun-filled hours of mild activity in exquisite Tsitsikamma scenery.

It is therefore suitable for folks of various fitness level and families with small children 5 years and up.

Most (90%) of our trips are conducted on medium-low to low water and the trip entails pool paddling, bouldering and walking, tube jumps, swimming and optional rock jumps up to 8m in height (short pour over and shoot rapids are water level dependent).

We went as a family water tubing and it was an amazing experience! The two guides, Tate and Mitch, were very professional and nice. The tubing is not a rafting, so you sometimes have to take your tube and go through the river and the rocks. But trust me, it’s worth it. The nature you will see is really breathtaking. The tubing makes also a lot of fun! And the food by the end of the tour is so so so good. So don’t miss the experience!

My sister and I went on this adventure last week while we were on the garden route. We had a blast despite it being more walking that we had thought. Definitely wear closed-toed shoes. The rocks are slippery and we both had on hiking sandals and I stubbed a toe pretty badly slipping on the rocks (not the guides fault, my fault for not realizing I needed closed-toed shoes). Water levels were low which was a bummer but a result of the drought/low rains happening in the area. We still had fun! Was our first time paddle boarding and that was way harder than I expected. So cool though. The light meal at the end was great!

The guides were very nice but this thing is Super boring and not very adventurous... the “meal” at the end was a joke.

And as a response to the place comment:
We were not expecting water rafting or any such thing, but we definitely didn’t expect waking On slippery rocks for 20 min and pushing ourselves down the stream because there is not enough water to take us through. The guides with us knew all about it but no one told us anything, only after taking our money.
We have eaten plenty of heavenly cultural and traditional food in South Africa and that was definitely not the case.
I’m not your first bad review so I hope you take our honest opinion and make your activity worthwhile.

A complete waist of money and time - the pictures of very misleading. The entire trip was boring, spent most of the time carrying the tube around. I would definitely NOT recommend this.

Rather check out Untouched Adventures, at Storms River.
